The Peewee bit is a revolutionary new bit imported exclusively by The Saddlery Shop for sale in the UK. The Pee Wee bit is constructed with stainless steel bit rings and side bars, but the mouthpiece is made from "sweet iron" which oxidises to produce a sweet taste that horses enjoy. This rusting effect is totally harmless but encourages salivation and acceptance of the bit, unlike stainless steel which can cause a dry mouth and/or the lips to crack in the corner in some cases.
The Peewee bit was designed by Pee Wee Stevenson, to help give the rider an advantage. The peewee bit works by keeping the horse comfortable in his mouth and when the horse is soft the bit stays quiet in the mouth. However as soon as the horse tries to evade the jaw control comes into effect giving an instant softening response. The pee wee bit will also enhance steering and is fitted slightly differently to traditional bits as there are no wrinkles in the horses lips. The correct poition for use is shown in the photo.
This all Purpose position with the Large Rings turned Down, is the best position to use and is ideal for general schooling, hacking and competition (where allowed). It is very important to note that the bit should be fitted without any wrinkles in the lips, and a close fit is preferable (no 1/4" gap is necessary as with traditional bits). It is also important to ensure you can place a couple of fingers between the chin strap and the horse's chin as the strap only acts as security in keeping the bit in place and should not put any pressure on the chin as a curb would.
